Ind-vs-Aus: – Border-Gavaskar trophy 2023 India defeated Australia by an inning and 132 runs. Jadeja returned to the action after six months and was adjudged as the player of the match.

The most awaited test rivalry of the year began on 9/02/2023 at 9:30 AM. Winning the toss, Australia decided to bat first. There was a continuous buzz about how the pitch would turn out to be, and as the match progressed, we saw the hosts played it better and the away side struggled.

Winning the toss and opting to bat first, Australia just managed to put 177 on the board before getting all out. Aussies were clueless and helpless in front of Ravi Jadeja’s deliveries as the left-arm spinner picked up a 5-fer in his returning match. In response, riding high on the century of Skipper Rohit Sharma and half-centuries of all-rounders Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel, India posted 400 on the board, bagging up a massive lead of 223 runs.

In response, Australian second-innings fell prey to Ashwin’s spin trap and were skittled out for just 91 runs, thus ending up the match just in 2 and a half days. Ravindra Jadeja was nominated as the player of the match for his all-round performance (70 Runs,7 wickets).

Ind-vs-Aus: – Australia Struggled in the first innings

Winning the toss and deciding to bat first, Australia was shell-shocked in the first delivery of the 2nd over on day 1, when M. Siraj caught Usman Khawaja in the front of stumps. Initially, the umpire signaled it as not-out but Indian skipper Rohit Sharma took the review, and the decision was reversed.

Australia was 2/1 when M. Shami in the next over itself, cleaned Warner Up. Shami delivered a length delivery that took an inside edge and the off stump went flying.

When the scoreline was at 2/2, Test’s world no. 1 and 2 batsmen, M. Labuschagne and Steve Smith took the onus of reviving the Australian innings and took care that the guests further didn’t lose wickets up to lunch.
The 82-runs partnership was broken after lunch when, Labuschagne tried to follow a turning delivery of Jadeja and in the process, found himself out of the crease. In no time debutant Wk KS Bharat took off the bails.

After dismissing Labuschagne, Jadeja caught Renshaw in front of the stumps in the succeeding delivery. Steve Smith, Handscomb, and Todd murphy were the rest to be dismissed by Jadeja. It was Jadeja’s first match after six months after a knee injury.

Ind-vs-Aus: – India piles up 400 on the board

After dismissing guests for 177 on day 1, Skipper Rohit Sharma and Kl Rahul opened Indian Innings. Skipper scored 13 runs in the first over of their innings. From here, Rohit played a balanced knock, while KL continued to hold an end by playing second fiddle to the skipper.

Indian Captain bought up his half-century in no time. Just as the play was about to end on day 1, debutant Todd Murphy caught Kl on his delivery. Nightwatchman R. Ashwin ensured that India don’t lose any wickets further on Day 1.


On day 2, Rohit’s century, Jadeja and Axar’s half-century ensured that India batted till lunch on Day 3. A few blows from the Shami in the lower order accelerated India’s Score to 400 runs, ensuring a massive lead of 233 runs.

On day 2, while Todd Murphy kept impressing on his debut when he kept removing the likes of Pujara, and Kohli at one end, Rohit Sharma held an end firm and played according to the behavior of the pitch and bought up his 9th Test century.
With this century, Rohit Sharma became the only captain to score 100 in all the formats of the game.

Ind-vs-Aus: – Australia surrenders in the 2nd innings

Australia’s woes against spin continued in the 2nd innings too. For a change, it was against Ashwin where Aussies kept finding answers to their spin troubles. It just took one session for Indians to bundle out the Aussies. Australia was dismissed was 91 runs, their lowest-ever total against India.
